Solving Your Tech Troubles Remotely

We were so glad to be able to offer some remote IT support to a loyal Croydon Vision member recently.

Jim Smith, who also volunteers here, got in touch about a problem he was having with his printer. Like a tech-savvy Wonder Woman, Katherine jumped to his aid, despite the fact Jim was at home and she was at Bedford Hall.

I knew that it could print copies, but only offline.” Jim explained “Katherine was able to help by taking over my computer from a distance. Then, since we knew the printer model, I was able enter my Wi-Fi router code and its passport number into the printer thus connecting it to my computer. I was able to print immediately. I felt great relief and was most thankful for the IT service”.

Lending a hand to members in this way puts a real spring in the step of Katherine and Ola, who have a wealth of IT experience and know-how between them. Please do feel free to get in touch if you think they could help improve your tech set-up!

You can also find out about our Tech for Good Centre at Bedford Hall, which showcases some clever, life-changing devices aimed at making a visually impaired person’s life easier.
