Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering.
Most people have formally volunteered at some point in their lives and we have 56 active volunteers here with us as part of the Croydon Vision family. Therefore, it’s time to say thank you.
As part of #VolunteersWeek, this Monday we celebrated our fabulous team with a thank you lunch along with a cake, cupcakes and gift bags! From social groups, cooking, admin to outreach, we couldn’t support our community the way we do without our CV volunteers. We are grateful for their continued hard work, time, and passion. The level of consistent volunteering at CV has been shown to have a positive impact on the lives of our members. As well as helping others, Volunteering has been shown to have a positive impact on the lives of those who volunteer, assisting volunteers in gaining new skills and boosting self-esteem.
A message from Sue L, a service enabler – “Thank you very much for the volunteers lunch today. It was lovely seeing and meeting other volunteers. Thank you also for my goody bag!”.
Our Volunteer Spotlights this year go to;
Frances Cullen
Frances joined CV in 1996 teaching fitness classes. She has continued her keep fit class for the past 25+ years and it is our most popular members activity. She also joined the board of trustees 15 years ago as Chair.
Mas Kalembo
Mas is an IT consultant, in partnership with clients/organisations, to advise, plan, design and implement IT tech systems, in order to meet their business objectives or overcome problems. He has helped CV develop a plan towards improving accessibility in our technology department.
