On 19th July 2024, we hosted a Wild West-themed BBQ, and with over 100 guests attending, it was an amazing success! The sunny weather was on our side as everyone gathered for a day of fun, food and celebration.
When our guests arrived, they were transported to our beautifully decorated courtyard. We had a cowboy themed photobooth and props. Many of our members and team (volunteers and staff) dressed up for the occasion, they wore big cowboy hats and boots and greeted everyone with big smiles.
Thanks to our super chef Isha and hospitality team, the air was filled with the mouthwatering scent of all barbeque foods. We had beef, pulled pork and chicken burgers. Vegetarian options catered for all our guests’ needs. For dessert our guests enjoyed either a refreshing ice cream or delicious fruit skewers.
Our Wild West BBQ was packed with activities for all ages. Our Children and Young People took part in some good old-fashioned competitive games such as tug-of-war and a bean bag race. The rest of our guests took part in a raffle, general knowledge quizzes and a Bollywood dancing session run by our dedicated Outreach Officer, Shalini.
However, this day was not all about having fun – it was about making a difference in our vibrant community. Through our lunch payments, raffles and donations, we raised funds that will help us to support our mission. We are forever thankful for those that made this possible. Since the BBQ, we’ve raised funds to purchase two accessible notice boards – we are excited about this, enabling us to share more news accessibly; with members and other stakeholders.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended. Your support truly helps us continue our work and it could not be done without you. Our Summer BBQ’s have become an annual tradition so we can wait to see you all again next year!
